School may be out for Easter, but The 'Bridge U14's got to experience a couple of masterclasses in Hurling this week when they got the opportunity to train under the tutelage of senior team coach Brian Culbert, along with senior hurlers Kevin Lynch, Brian Corry, Jamie Shanahan and Shane Golden.

The 1st session took place from 11am to 1.30pm on Monday and also at the same time on Wednesday in O'Garney Park. The sessions were set up in 4 stations and so the squad which was divided up into groups of 4 were able to gain knowledge and insight from the lads in areas such as striking, tackling technique, retaining possession, working to get a colleague into a scoring position and also creating and converting goal chances.

The U14's are up and running in the U14A and Shield competitions with both winning their first two games but conscious that improvements have to be made and bigger tests lie ahead in the next 6 weeks or so, to get to Co Semi final stage and also acquit themselves well in the upcoming Co Féile Na nGael qualifying competition in which the 'Bridge are reigning champions.

The players, management and the Minor Club are delighted with how the sessions went and are very grateful to Brian and the 4 lads for giving their time to help with some of the hurlers of the future. Such has been the success and enthusiasm for this week's session, that we are very hopeful one more such session will take place next week before the resumption of the U14A Championship on Friday 21st April.

It's great to see the senior players giving something back to the Minor Club and for our young players to make that connection with players who they look up to and want to emulate in their Hurling careers. Long may that connection deepen and prosper!!!
