Quite literally the stage is set for the biggest weekend of entertainment to ever hit the village of Sixmilebridge and the buzz about the place is akin to an All Ireland final. Almost 12 months ago Kevin Phelan (aka Charlie) and his 4 Angels (Emma, Deirdre, Bernie and Orla) started planning a fundraising event and the master plan comes to fruition starting tonight with the Strictly Come Dancing event.

One of their first tasks was to identify 30 dancers who willing or not were going to strut their stuff on the big stage and the gang chosen have put in huge effort in practicing for the big night. Next up the judges on the night were selected and announced earlier this week while the host on the night will be the ever professional Syl O’Connor.

Online voting through our technology partner Clubify closes at noon today – If you cannot make tonight or want to get your voting done now you can do so here otherwise you can do so on the night.

The event takes place in a giant marquee in the club grounds at O’Garney Park with doors opening at 6PM with the show starting at 7PM – A full bar is open on site with TVs showing the event so you won’t miss a Charleston or a Bollywood routine while you go to quench the thirst.

The support from the local community and beyond has been overwhelming with a real “roll up the sleeves attitude”. All week players, parents and supporters have helped prepare the grounds with the Senior hurlers chipping in last night by helping layout 1,200 chairs in army like fashion. Gilly was spotted eyeing up the stage for his own performance in the Stars in their eyes event on Sunday night while Jamie Shanahan, Gavin White, Brian Carey and Kevin Lynch did a few twirls for their team mates to give a taste of what is to come later on tonight.

We look forward to rolling out the red carpet and providing a warm welcome to people attending from outside the village for what will be guaranteed a great weekend of craic.

Extra seating has been made available in the marquee so tickets will be available for all events over the weekend at the door but do come early. To stay up to date on the weekend follow us on twitter @smbgaa or download our Clubify app here.
