Sixmilebridge 2-18 Bodyke 1-09

O Garney Park was the venue and Bodyke the opponents for this round 4 of the Intermediate league. The weather was dry, with a stiff breeze blowing from the school end. The Bridge won the toss and elected to play with the aid of the breeze in the first half. Bodyke played with a sweeper from the off but the bridge were quick to settle through a lovely score from Danny Morey. For the remainder of the half, the home side maintained the upper hand and lead at half time on a score line of 1-10 to 0-05.

The start of the second half saw Bodyke score first, before a 1-02 scoring burst from the bridge opened further daylight between the teams. The goal coming courtesy of David O Connor. From here to the end it was score for score with the bridge winning on a score line of 2-18 to 1-09.

This victory was built on a very good team effort and workman like performance. The only real stand out performer for the victors was Robert Conlon between the sticks who brought off some excellent saves throughout the course of the hour. Next up is an away game against Doora on Sunday the 29th.
