The U6 Bucks returned to action last Friday evening in Cappa Lodge.

See video here.....

A great turnout with over 40 boys born in 2012 & 2013 (a vintage year!). More are expected tomorrow night as school is back and holidays are over!

There was a great buzz as these young lads, some for the first time stepped onto one of the famous ‘Bridge hurling fields, following in the footsteps of many a ‘Bridge player before them. They performed drills to improve their fundamental movement skills, they learned how to hold their Hurley properly and how to strike the ball aswell. Baby steps for now before we get into full tackle drills later in the year (just kidding!)

Indeed it was heartening to see a large amount of parents helping out on the night with the coaches at the various stations. Many of them former players themselves and many who haven’t played before but who understand that the more involvement from parents the better for the kids. The more attention the kids gets at these sessions the better. We would welcome and encourage all parents to get involved at the stations.

At a station One coach can only concentrate on one player at a time to correct Hurley grip for instance whereas if parents are present they can help with their child. Ultimately the smaller the ratio between coaches/parents and kids the better.

We are looking forward to training again tomorrow Friday eventing at Cappa lodge at 6pm to continue the journey with this fantastic and enthusiastic bunch of u6 bridge bucks!! 💪💪

Cmon the Bridge Bucks!
