Sixmilebridge GAA Club in partnership with Sixmilebridge National School Present - An information talk for parents "Social Media: Challenges for Parents" by Dr. Maureen Griffin.
The event will take place on Tuesday May 21st 7pm -8.30 pm at Sixmilebridge National School and is offered to Parents / Guardians of children in primary school.
Dr. Maureen Griffin, a Forensic Psychologist runs courses for parents and teachers, and has worked with over 700 schools as well as a range of community organisations.
The talk will provide information and guidance to parents in safeguarding their children online, offering practical advice on how to protect children when they are online or using their mobile devices. Areas covered will include latest developments in young people’s usage of social media, social networking sites (e.g. Instagram); social messaging/chatting apps (e.g. snapchat); video-streaming sites (e.g. YouTube); mobile device safety; screen time & sleep; grooming and cyber-bullying will also be addressed. Dr Griffin will highlight resources to help parents navigate these areas , providing practical advice and tips for dealing with misuses of technology, followed by questions and answers.
This event is free of charge and is part of the Sixmilebridge GAA Club Healthy Club Programme. All welcome from the community and beyond.
