When U8 head coach Martin Conlon spoke about the logistics dilemma he was dealing with last week we all presumed it was in getting President Trump through Shannon Airport safely - however later in the week Conlon revealed the main consultations he had with the FBI and CIA were about how he was going to get 45 of his bucks to 2 venues across East Clare for the latest round of U8 Hurling games.
Numbers for our Bridge Bucks Academy are at an all time high the peak of which is with our U8 hurlers this year where close on 50 players regularly attend training every week. We are very lucky to have great coaches, parents and volunteers willing to help out (and always looking for more) ensuring all players get the best foundation for their hurling future in a fun environment. The policy is the same with all teams in the club to give players as much opportunity with game time as possible so on Saturday we had 6 teams in total in action: 3 teams in Kilkishen playing the hosts along with Parteen, Tulla, Clonlara with 3 more teams in Ogonnolloe along with Whitegate, Cratloe, Meelick.
The report back from all coaches was extremely positive with some of the highlights mentioned being:
- How everyone played as a team and encouraged their team mates by name in a sporting manner.
- Fought for every ball in the rucks, flick to the side and a big hit as we practice in training
- Wore their club jersey with pride, hurled with a smile and finished their 3rd game wanting more.
The boys will have a rest day today from training tonight but we encourage them to go out for a few pucks themselves to keep the eye in and we will be back training Wednesday evening at 6pm in the Cappa Lodge pitch to start honing our skills for the next blitz.
Blitz 4: 6th July
Blitz 5: 17th August
Blitz 6: 14th September
Thanks to O'Callaghans Mills and Ogonolloe GAA clubs for organising and the great hospitality shown to our players, coaches and parents.
