Under 16 A Championship  Round 1.

Match Report.

Sixmilebridge 1-27 Tulla 0-5.

The Sixmilebridge under 16’s got their championship underway last Sunday morning with a home tie against Tullawho were lining out in the ‘A’ championship for the first time in a number of years. Unfortunately for them it was a big step up with the ‘Bridge just having too much strength in all positions with a very strong bench to call on if necessary as well. Luke O’ Halloran opened the scoring in the first minute with a pointed free and it continued from there. The score of the half was an Adam Murray goal which he took very well giving Aaron Shannahan in the Tulla goal no chance in the tenth minute. The ‘Bridge dominated for the remainder of the half leaving the half time score, Sixmilebridge 1-13    Tulla 0-3.

Now playing with the aid of a light breeze the ‘Bridge continued where they left off with several players on the score sheet the highlight being Dara Casey in corner forward scoring five cracking points and all from play. Tulla fought throughout and were probably just caught out by the intensity of the ‘Bridge tackling as they had some lovely hurlers who never gave up. The score line probably flattered the hosts and Tulla would have learned a lot from this match. A good start for the ‘Bridge Under 16’s but much sterner tests’ to come.

For Tulla Aaron Shannahan was excellent and his distribution of the ball from puck outs was top class.  Colin Hogan was also dominant at wing back throughout considering the pressure he was under.

For Sixmilebridge Oisin Breen and Seamus O Connell showed great fight with Dara Casey playing superb when introduced scoring five points in 15 minutes all from play.
