Sixmilebridge 4-15 Clarecastle 0-09

Cusack Park Ennis - Saturday 03/August/2019

The Bridge opened their Championship account for 2019 with an 18 point win over a disappointing ClareCastle on Saturday and while the winning margin was facile some of the shooting throughout the hour will give the team plenty to work on after they recorded 16 wides,

The Magpies started the brighter with 3 points in the opening 5 minutes but the Bridge eventually got going with points from Alex Morey, Brian Corry ans Seadna Morey to put us 2 down on a score of 0-3 to 0-5 after the first quarter.

A Cathal Malone goal on the 17th minute put the Bridge in front for the first time and it was a lead they would not surrender as they went on to lead 1-09 to 0-06 at the short whistle.

The Bridge hit 3-06 in the second half to the magpies 0-03 with 2 goals from Malone to complete his hat trick while Shane Golden began to take control of the game raising the other green flag.

A highlight for the Bridge supporters who came from as far away as Wexford was the return of Jamie Shanhan following a long lay off with injury and he got on the score sheet with a trade mark point for good measure.

Sterner tests lay ahead as we face county champions Ballyea in 2 weeks but for now we will look forward to facing Tony Kelly & Co.
