Congrats to our Senior Hurling Captain Noel Purcell on winning the Shannon Group Charity 5K last night. This was the first staging of the event organised by Shannon Commercial Properties for local charities and took place in the Shannon Industrial Estate.

Purcell who is no stranger to the running scene having completed the Paris Marathon (03:40:15) earlier this year went out fast last night and completed the race in 18:30 to set a new course record.

On crossing the finish line last night he headed straight to the car to be home in O'Garney Park for training as he prepares to lead the Bridge into battle in the 1/4 final of the Championship on Saturday week against Eire Óg.

Noel who works as an engineer in the estate with EI Electronics spoke of how he knew every inch of the route from his lunchtime walks and said While it was an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as Kiptanui, Farah and Cathal O'Connor the biggest thing for me will be on my lunchtime walk on Friday when people point over at me and says thats the fastest lad in the Shannon Industrial Estate.
