The 'end of season' Sixmilebridge U10 League commenced last Tuesday evening (8th) and will run over the next two training sessions (Thurs 10th and Tues 15th). This is a 'skills based' league with the following format:

• The squad is divided up into 4 teams - SMB Dragons, SMB Sharks, SMB Tigers and SMB Lions
• Players will receive points for catching, hooking, blocking, scoring off their non-dominant side and taking 4 steps with ball in hand. Players will also receive points for turning up to training - so please ensure your player makes it for the rest of the season.
• Because its been a long season and the coaches are getting grumpy (or grumpier....) players will lose points for complaining to the ref :)

However, in a slight twist, the players won't actually play with their 'assigned team' - rather they will compete in games with other boys of similar ability. We are using this format to ensure all boys get to play at a level where they can execute the skills they've been practicing all year. All points a player scores (for catches, hooks etc) will go towards his assigned teams (Dragons, Sharks etc) overall score. The team with the most points will be deemed the winner at the end of the league.

We are also running a Wall Ball competition - again with the aim of honing the boys first-touch and improving hand-eye coordination.

The winners of the Sixmilebridge League and Wall Ball competition will be announced on our final night - Oct 18th
