The throw in for the U6s this year was the Parent & Child Night ran on 7th May by Jim Corbett and with an introduction to the club & policies by David O’ Connor. This night is very important and gives the parents an opportunity to focus on the basics before hitting the field proper. 30 players attended on the night.

Our U6s training started their year in May 2019 and finished on October 18th, training every Friday night except for a 2 week break in the middle of Summer when Morey Camp was on. We had 51 players in total registered and over 25 training sessions, 3 Fun nights, 2  Blitzes and 1 BBQ! The players also supported the HPV campaign by getting HPV logoed tops.

It is not possible to run the sessions without the hidden work that goes on in the background and its here that our Admin team of Elaine Slattery, Michelle Moran and Linda O’ Sullivan really proved their worth, compiling spreadsheets, taking attendances, photos, videos, preparing goody bags, making teas, coffees, doing first aid etc... the list goes on. We are very thankful for their efforts over the course of the year.

Likewise the sessions cannot happen without the input of the coaching team and this primarily comprised of Ian Chaplin, Paul Fitzpatrick, Peter Kearney, Mike Slattery, Jim Corbett & Johnny O’ Sullivan. Of course there was plenty of help from other coaches & parents also and again the sessions are not possible without this extra help, especially when the numbers are so big.

Highlights of the year were the Mini Fittest Superstars day, the Fun Nights, the Kilmaley blitz and the Finale Blitz under lights with the piper. It was great to have the Canon Hamilton cup and the Senior players present for the presentations also.

A Big Thank You to all the U6 boys and their parents for attending all year and we hope ye had an enjoyable year and hope to see you all in the new year when U6/8 hurling resumes. Also thanks to the minor club, field team of John Corbett, Christy & Grace Murray and Frances & Tony Downes.

The final night was a great success with over 104 players displaying their skills on the night. Seadna Morey gave a great pep talk in the dressing room beforehand  and then the piper led the team around the field and then Peter Kearney & the boys did the Irish Haka! before the matches began, finally retiring to the hall for the medals and goodies.
