With May just around the corner, normally at this stage of the year our training complex in Cappa Lodge and the hallowed turf of O'Garney park would be a buzz of activity for our young gladiators honing their skills in anticipation of the great battles in blitzes, tournaments and championship fare later this summer. Instead, just like with our kids school work being delivered via home education, we the parents, guardians or older siblings now need to become the hurling educators or in some cases to become the educated and provide the opportunity to our young boys and girls to continue to develop their skills.
The easy option here is to say, 'ah shur I never played myself' or give your son or daughter a ball and let them off but our guide below is developed to make this fun and allow you to help in the development of your kids skills, ensure daily activity for all and help enhance their motion and hurling skills. Its is aimed at all age groups from 3 year olds in our Bridge bucks up to our minor hurlers and the same ethos applies to all ....
I see, I remember | I do, I understand | I practice, I become skilled!
How it works
We have 7 different skills to practice which are essential to the game of hurling. A big emphasis should be on our
Lazy Side (Remember, no such thing as a bad side!)
Each day we have suggested a challenge fo you to try out on your own or with your family: Details on the skills here
Recording your progress
At the end of each session run through your daily skills test and record your results here: Skills results recording
We have included the option to record 5 days of skills and use the other 2 days to put it onto action in a fun game with your siblings or in a game of goal to goal with your parents! Other games such as keepy uppy, around the world or practicing thee numerous trick shots as seen on Social media.
Any big improvements during the week you see send on a video to email@example.com and we will give a shout out to inspire others.
At the end of the 4 weeks you can submit your results to the email above and we will have some prizes from the club shop. Remember if short of sliotars they are for sale via our club shop online.
