The Parish League is full steam ahead for Saturday, in Lees Road in Ennis. The management setups of the 5 teams are now firmly in place and plans are being carefully crafted for the opening fixtures.

Following the 1st Draft, which was made up of players that played last year, there has been a scramble, (2nd Draft) much like the Gold Rush in the Wild West! for players - in the last week or so. Phone calls were placed to see if lads were home for the weekend or to see if they would don the boots and helmet one last time! Some interesting recruits have been found by the teams!

There are players taking part from the Togging Out group, there are returning players from yesteryear, players of the future and current stalwarts from the various adult teams. It should be an exciting and eventful league with such an eclectic mix of players!

Anyone else that wishes to take part can contact any member of management listed below.

Tv Rights
Tv rights have been secured by a Kilmurry Media company, Culbert Productions. They have taken all the available packages, including the highlights and streaming. It is rumoured that the match videos will be available to the highest bidding pub each Saturday evening, but Culbert productions declined to comment indicating that this was sensitive business information which they would not disclose.

Update - Mountain
A source has revealed that a senior member of management has gotten a one game ban, for breaking the Teams Code where they had agreed a Drinking ban for the duration of the Parish League. The member of management was found to have attended a recent music night in Gleesons in direct contravention of the agreement.

Player Additions include: Padraig Chaplin, Podge Flannery, Ian Chaplin, Jim Spaight, Barry O' Conor, Brian O' Neill, Patrick Punch, Robert McNamara, Tommy Morey, Richard Drake

Management Additions include: Joan Keogh, Donal Mullins, John Moloney, Syl O' Conor, Noel Purcell, Leo Mulready and there will be more before Saturday.

Update - Kilmurry
Kilmurry have been earmarked as the strong favourites for the 2022 League and there have already been calls for Kilmurry to be divided in the next league!

Kilmurry Backroom additions include: Jamsey Hassett, John MacNamara, Adrian Hogan, Brian O' Connell, Ciaran Agnew, Brian Culbert, Brendan O Callaghan & Tom Keogh, Jimmy Corbett… so far... they are still recruiting...

Kilmurry will be hard to beat this year no doubt but it has been noted that it could take up to 20 minutes to make a decision on the line, and other teams could steal a march whilst the debate is ongoing!

Update - Finnachtas
Finnactas Parish League Team Update
Mikey Corbett is busy adding players and backroom help to the Finnachtas team. They are after appointing Trevor Whyte as goal keeping coach and also Ronan Keane has been installed as kit man. Gillys bar is their main sponsor - Any goal we score Richie is giving a free shot, Mikey has indicated 😁

Lets hope the Finnachtas team don't avail too much of Richies offerings before the league starts!

Update - Marys
St. Marys management have been working hard over the last few days to pin down player availability for the first Saturday night game. Tom Sheehan, Caimin and Johnny have been working on this morning, noon and night. They have asked for team lists going back 2 decades in their search for players to help the cause. It is rumoured Mike Morey will tog in goals and Tom Sheehan himself contemplated togging but for a serious achilles injury.

Another commentator from another team wondered were the Townies afraid to tog against the tough Mountain team!

Update - Cappa
The Cappa team group is up and running. Management links to the previous Parish League are maintained with President Pat Chaplin at the helm. Pat will be able to remind his players of Cappa's glory days in the 40s and 50s when they competed separately from Sixmilebridge in the Clare junior championship winning Junior A Hurling Titles in 1947 and 1949.

Due to population decline in Cappa, some recruits from other Townlands have been permitted, with Kevin Lynch and Johnny Hayes being two notables!

Player additions to date include Barry Loughnanne and Management additions include Mike Halla O' Halloran who togged out in the previous leagues in 2013/2014.
