Parish League Rd 2, Game 2

St Finnachtas 6-12
Cappa 3-19

What a game, it started with a stroll, and finished with a sprint, with Cappa well on top in the opening period. Seamus O Connell majestic in the middle of the field, Luke O Halloran conducting attacks from the centre forward position, Gavin O Reilly and ON LOAN Barry Loughnane making waves on the wings. Kevin Lynch and Paul Fitzpatrick adding experience in pivotal roles in the middle of the defence, and the rock-solid Gerry O Halloran his usual self between the posts.

Half time score

Cappa 1-12
St Finnachtas 0-7

St. Finnachtas Bainistiocht, led by Mikey Corbett were in no mood for soft talk at half time, with Mikey warning them that if they didn’t start to move a little more swiftly on the field, they could start moving towards the Ring Road, and head for home, and guess what, it worked - a second half worthy of any occasion was there for all to see. The Harty boys from Ard Scoil Noel and Colm Flynn, and Darragh Casey, ran at the Cappa defence all through the second half, Cian Fawl with a meticulous penalty strike, Ronan Touhy with a superb goal, Conor Murphy with a half dozen points, David O Connor with 0-4 and to cap it all off Brian Corry with 3 rapid goals. Cappa despite being under strength battled all the way to the end, and with Goals from Luke O Halloran and Ciaran Hassett, the Saints never had chance to even think about travel early on the Ring Road.

Mikey Corbett will now turn his attention to next weeks Old Firm derby between Village teams St. Mary's And Finnachtas, this certainly will be an interesting one, not least as younger brother Johnny Corbett is on the management team of St. Marys!
