The Minors got their campaign for 2022 underway yesterday in Inagh renewing the arch-rivalry underage with Inagh Kilmamona. Sean Lynch’s troops were eager to get to the field after a good winter training regime in readiness for the campaign early in the year.

The U17 League competition takes place without the County Minor panelists but includes the Celtic Challenge panelists. The 'Bridge were therefore without Matthew O' Halloran, Fiachra O' Braoin and Mark Sheedy.

The game was a tight affair throughout and the 'Bridges two goals in the first 20 minutes were necessary to keep in touch. Callum Phelan’s effort scraped across the line to get the goal for the away side. The bridge showed great discipline in their passing and created goal chances. After a shot was saved from Danny Chaplin, Eamon Breen fortuitously had the green flag raised when his long range effort was dropped into the net by the Inagh Kilnamona goalkeeper. Inagh began to pull ahead and at half time the Bridge were behind by the minimum, one point.

The tense back and forth continued into the second half the 'Bridge were leading by two points heading into the final seconds and seemed destined for the win, however Inagh Kilnamona got two points in 30 seconds to bring the game level and that was enough action for referee Andy McMahon, who blew the final whistle.

Standout players for the 'Bridge on the day were Dara Fitzgerald at center back, Eamon Breen with a strong work rate at centre forward and Jack Phelan was a no nonsense full back.
