Finnachtas Claim Final Spot

Parish League Rd. 4, Game 2

St. Finnachtas 8-15
Mountain 8-12

St. Finnachtas took the spoils in a highly entertaining game at Lees road on Saturday. The winner of this game was likely to make it to a final with Kilmurry so it was hotly contested.

The game was in the the balance for long periods in the game. There was only 4 points in it at half time, with Finnachtas ahead, although a disputed goal which was disallowed would have only left the minimum between the teams.

Things changed very soon after the second half started however when Finnachtas pounced for a goal straight away.

In the dying moments of the second half, the management teams were lucky not to have been reprimanded by referee Kevin Corry, as they both took to the field, contesting every decision and encouraging their troops to fight right to the end. In the end it was Finnachtas who took the spoils in what was probably the best game of the tournament so far.

For the Mountain, Danny Dunne, Cathal Lynch and Danny Morey played well and for Fiannachtas they had good performances in Aidan Quilligan at the back who marshalled those around him to good effect and Ronan Tuohy and Conor Deasy also played well for them.

It is now a certainty that Kilmurry and Finnachtas will meet in the final, both teams currently on 6 points and with a game remaining to be played. Mikey Corbett has steered his troops well through the Parish League battleground.
