U9 Parish League Final

The U9s had a unique final session recently to conclude their winter training regime, where they met as a group almost 20 times from November 2020 to March 2021, the final session was a Parish League final, the warm-up event to the Adult Parish League final held on Wednesday March 16th under lights at O' Garney Park. The winter sessions which had a change of pace and were more fun orirntated provided the perfect atmosphere for players to develop their basic skills in a non pressure environmemnt. Throw in a trip to the Cozy Cottage with their Santa hats and lots of fun and it all ended up being a very enjoyable few months for all involved.

For the Parish League Final, the boys had been split into their respective teams, Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry beforehand and the captain's were named and the programme produced! The Kilmurry boys had use of the Kilmurry school jerseys for the night.

This was a great opportunity for the boys to play in front of a crowd and indeed the crowd responded whenever there was a nice bit if skill on show. The loudest cheer reserved for a goal from young Joe Madden, one that Joe Canning would be proud of, as he controlled a high ball into the forwards before launching a rocket to the roof of the net!

Amazingly the game ended in a draw. Even more amazing is that after all the skill points were calculated on the spreadhseet compiled by Paul Fitzpatrick, the game was still tied!

Well done to all these boys who trained hard over the winter and have brought their skill levels on no end.. Also thanks to the Parents and coaches who attended or brought their boys training each week. There was close to full attendance most weeks for this group over the winter..
