Last Saturday morning our U11 boys were on the road early heading for the North Cork hurling stronghold of Newtownshandrum for the annual Dermot Naughton Memorial Blitz in memory of one of their own GAA Gaels.

The clubs involved included Michael Cusacks (Galway), Nenagh (Tipperary), Newtown and Sixmilebridge with each team fielding 2 teams.

The format was 2 groups of 4 with each game consisting of 12 minutes a half. The Bridge boys had a roller coaster of a day with a mix of big wins and narrow loses with both teams finishing the day on a high with wins over Nenagh and the hosts to make the Ice Cream all the sweeter,

A big thanks to our hosts for the wonderful hospitality as always and the very well organized competition. Well done to Newtown who won the tournament for the first time beating Michael Cusacks in the Final - it was great to see the Ganttleys of Galway face off against the Mulcahys of Newtown in the final.
