At the start of 2023 the Hurling development group in the club set about preparing for the year ahead with the main aim for Q1 of 2023 being around Coaching our Coaches. With Covid restricting courses in recent years the aim was to ensure all personnel involved with teams in the club had completed the Foundation Level course as part of the GAA learning & Education program for the coming season.

The response to the course was overwhelming and heartwarming from a clubs point of view with so many new coaches and parents educated on the basics of hurling coaching for kids and juvenile teams for the past 3 Monday nights. This resulted in 60+ coaches graduating with flying colors and ready to hit the ground running with their teams as well as passing on tips to their kids in the back yard. The club are thankful to all men and women who gave up their time to take part and based on feedback it was a very enjoyable experience and definitely shortened the month of January with something to do on Monday nights.

The club would like to thank the county board who facilitated the course, the excellent Peter Casey and his equally brilliant and insightful team of Cian O'Dea, Damian Burke, John Enright and Paul Hogan. While the numbers were large the course was ran as 4 mini courses within a single course with lots of room for break out groups in the indoor arena.

Thanks also to our U11 hurlers who were very well behaved and made the practical workshop so worth while in week 2 and week 3. Thanks to the club for providing refreshments at the end of the sessions and for the goodie bags for the U11 boys. Not sure what they preferred more - Pucking around with Clare star Seadhna Morey or the late night treats!

On Monday 13th February our Level 1 Coaching Course commences for any personnel who have completed the Foundation level course this year or in the past - This is being ran by the infamous duo of Paudie Butler and Pater Case and is sure to be a big hit with coaches.
