On Friday evening close on 180 players, members and supporters gathered in the Woodstock hotel in Ennis for a night of celebration to mark the clubs success in 2022. This saw a historic Junior double achieved by the club and players from both squads were present to receive their medals.

As soon as people entered the door of the Lally family run hotel there was a party atmosphere with one of our exciting young prospects Fionn Hayes raising the rafters as he stood close to the rafters on the balcony over looking the lobby.

Following a wonderful meal Chairman and MC Syl O'Connor spoke about the year just gone before welcoming PJ Fitzpatrick and Noel (the Case) Casey to present the medals to the winning teams. Following the medal presentation the excitement was building for the announcement of the Bridge HOTY (Hurler of the Year) - This year saw the introduction of the Seamus and Bridget (Loughnane) O'Halloran memorial cup presented by both families to the club. The club was delighted to have both families in attendance and everyone was touched by Barry's very kind words before getting his mention in for Wolfe Tones at the end.

Caroline O'Halloran and Barry Loughnane presenting the cup to club chairman Syl O'Connor earlier this week.

The winner of the award was a man who first came to prominence winning an All Ireland Feile title back in 1995 before going on to play Minor with Clare and win medals at all grades with the Bridge. He is arguably playing the best hurling of his life since he hit the 40s and this year captained the Junior Bs to county final success. He hurled with Bridget at underage and was coached by Seamus and so Paul Fitzpatrick was a very fitting winner of the award. Following the awards the crowd danced the night off to local band Sticky Fingers with a lot of coaches making a huge effort to be up early the following morning for Spraoi Saturdays Festival of Hurling.

A word of thanks to the organizing committee for all the hard work they did in preparing for the night - Thanks also to our hosts Sean and Elaine Lally who provided a wonderful venue and meal for all in attendance. While it was a night of mixed emotion for many one thing for sure is Bridget and Seamus' will always be with us in the club and with lots of Grand children playing for the 'Bridge who know some day one of them may be winning this award.

Back to the training fields now as we work hard to make sure we have reason for more of these nights out.
