Another busy week for our U13 hurlers with the 3 teams in action this week across 5 games. It was a mixed bag results wise but as is the main ethos here with this group - Games for all boys in the age grop and this was again achieved with 45+ boys seeing action across the games.

3 Teams - 1 Unit

U13A Hurlers

Round 6 of the championship took place last Saturday with a win needed to ensure our drive for qualification for the knockout stages of the championship. Following the hangover of the loss in the Schools division 1 final 2 days earlier the 'Bridge boys were determined to get back on winning ways and hit the ground running with some early goals to run out winners on a score of 5-07 to 1-05. the final game of the group takes place next Wednesday night at 7pm in Ennis against Eire Óg.

Next weekend the team travel to Cashel for a tournament with King Cormacs, Middleton and Ballygunner as they continue their underage hurling development.

U13 Saffrons

The Saffrons had 2 tough battles this week when they faced the 2 trams from the top of the table. A trip to Kilmaley last Sunday saw them lose out to a very strong side in thunder and lightening conditions. On Wednesday they were at home to Corofin/Ruan and despite sleeping for the first half and going in on the short whistle 2-05 to 0-01 they rallied in the second half to lead by 3-05 to 2-05 with 10 minutes to go. Two late goals from the visitors sealed our fate but the boys really showed their grit and determination to get themselves back int the game in a very competitive second half. Final score: Corofin/Ruan 4-07 SMB 3-05

Next up is Clarecastle away on Wednesday 5th July.

SMB Blues

The Bridge Blues had mixed results this week - On Monday evening the defeated St Josephs Doora Barefield 1-11 to 0-04 in a fine performance in Cappa Lodge.

On Wednesday night they faced table toppers Ballyea and despite a slow start the closed the gap in the second half but came up short on a score of 6-07 to 3-06.

Next up is Newmarket on Wednesday 5th July at home.
