Junior As record first win
(Report thanks to Patrick Punch)
Sixmilebridge 4-13
OC Mills 3-11
The bridge junior As had their first league win Saturday evening against the Mills. This was a physical and close affair with very little separating the sides. The bridge were delighted to welcome Robert Conlon and Rory Liddane to the Junior A setup after being re- graded from Intermediate earlier in the week. The bridge got off to a good start with Tommy liddy opening the scoring. The Mills replied with a score immediately. With 25 minutes gone in the first half the bridge raced into a 5 point lead. At this stage the bridge felt they might pull away but the mills fought back before half time and only trailed by a single point at the interval.
One change was made at half time, Rory Liddane replaced Ronan Cahill. The Mills got off to a good start in the second half and went 2 points ahead thanks to a few long range scores. The Mills looked like getting on top but the bridge replied with a goal from Tommy Liddy after a great run from Mark Quinn. The bridge pushed on to open up a 7 point Lead.
With only 5 minutes remaining the Bridge were 5 points up. Credit must be given to the Mills they tried hard to close the deficit but the bridge defence held strong and held on for a 5 point victory. This victory leaves the Bridge in 4th spot on the table. Their next league match is against Whitegate on Saturday at 5 in Sixmilebridge.
