SMB 1-12
Josephs 2-16
Weather conditions were poor with heavy showers throughout the game. St josephs started the better and had the bridge backs in all sorts of trouble leaking two goals and a flurry of points in the opening 15 minutes. The home side were so dominant that it forced the bridge to use Sam O Sullivan as a sweeper and Sean Lynch as a third midfielder. This seemed to stem Josephs flow and allow the bridge some badly needed possession. The bridge pulled themselves back into the game through points from Gavin Whyte (0-02),Sean Lynch (0-02), Darragh O Connor, Danny Morey and David O'Connor leaving the half time score at 2-10 to 0-07.
Starting the second half as the first finished the bridge worked tirelessly to peg the Josephs lead back with scores from Gavin Whyte and a goal from a 21m free from Sean Lynch. Try as they might, credit must go to the home side for keeping the score board ticking over and holding out for a 7 point victory. The bridge team can hold their heads high as they outworked and outscored their opponents 1-5 to 6 points in a spirited second half display.
