2023 Player of the Year Announced

At the end of 2023, each team was asked to nominate and vote for their player of the year.. a number of notable Bridge hurlers made the final list, but last week the overall Player of the Year for 2023 was decided. And for the second year in a row, one of our veteran hurlers has won the title. You will remember that last year the winner was Paul Fitzpatrick from Cappa, who put in some great displays in the Junior B winning year and captained the team from center back.

Well the 2023 Player of the Year has been decided and it is none other than David O' Conor or more commonly known as Doc. The stylish forward is known for always giving 100% and gave some great performances over the last couple of years winning the Junior B championship in 2022 and narrowly losing out to Broadford in the 2023 Junior A semi final. A former senior player with the club, but he doesn't just focus on playing, being very giving with his time coaching with the underage boys and U10 Camogie teams. And most recently, Doc finished top of the scoring charts in the Parish League as his team the Mountain regained the title for 2024.

When contacted by the club to let him know of the win, Doc had the following to say;

'It was fantastic to have been nominated again for 2023 by my teammates but to win it, I'm absolutely thrilled.

It's a huge personal highlight and a special thanks to the club who continue to provide the very best of opportunities for all players at all ages.

This award is in honour of members of the O Halloran family and I'm truly honoured to be associated to this award.'

Well done David.
