Sixmilebridge 0-18 Inagh/Kilnamona 0-15

Todays Senior Championship meeting of the Bridge and Inagh/Kilnamona was a repeat pairing of the Clare Cup Semi Final meeting earlier this summer when that day the sun shone on Dr. Daly Park in Tulla and the Combo inflicted a big defeat on the Bridge and many leaving felt that evening we could struggle in Championship 2019. However todays clash in the park had many contrasts most notably the weather and secondly our hunger and most importantly the result as we qualified for our 5th county final this decade.

The Bridge lined out as per their 1/4 final win over Eire Óg and matched the combo early on in the game on the scoreboard only to fall behind 5 points to 2 mid way through the first half. The Bridge kept the score board ticking over and would have been happy to go in at the break trailing by a single point in slippery conditions.

The Garney side supporters were expecting their side to raise their game in the second half but it was the combo who were fastest out of the blocks and ran into a 4 point lead but the Bridge came storming back into the game and a mix of serious battling along with some very poor discipline from the combo saw the Bridge with an 8 point turn around to lead by 4 points coming into the closing stages.

The introduction of Niall Gilligan for his 24th season was a fantastic achievement for the Rossroe man who has now 112 senior champ appearances for the Bridge with 36-633 to his name.

While the Bridge will be under no illusions that a big improvement is needed to win the Canon Hamilton the local community can start getting ready for the big day out with a meeting against Crusheen or Cratloe in 2 weeks time.
