Our U12s played their first games since lockdown restrictions eased when they hosted challenge games against Doora Barefield this Saturday morning. With both clubs fielding three teams, the action was spread out across Cappa Lodge and O'Garney Park with an 11:30 am throw in for all three games. Games were played as 3 twenty minute thirds to maximize the players game time while leaving plenty time for re-hydration on what was a warm morning for hurling.

Our Yellow and Orange teams played side by side on the main pitch. The Yellow team, captained by Oisin O'Brien, had a great tussle with their DB counterparts but were eventually edged out with a couple of late scores. The lads will take a lot from this game with great efforts in the tackle and passing and good displays from Tommy Healy and Liam Sweeney.

The Orange team had a tougher time of it, with the game running away from them at times. Captained by Killian McNamara they kept plugging away throughout the game with strong displays from Eoin Murphy and Aidan Cunniffe.

Meanwhile, over in Cappa Lodge, our Blue team (captained by Zak Phelan) proved to be too strong for the opposition over the 60 minutes with good displays by Dylan Keogh and Cuan McGiollaCearra in particular. Great again to see the work the boys are putting in at training being put to use in games.

So, all in all, a very good mornings work with plenty for the players and coaches to think about as the season progresses. The U12s have some more challenge games lined up in the coming weeks before the County Board organized u12 games commence at the end of August.

Thanks to Kieran Liddane and Kieran Keating who reffed the Yellow and Blue games.
