Our U8 hurlers got their first (internal) Blitz experience of 2020 last night in perfect underfoot conditions in O'Garney park when we divided our squad into 4 teams who went into combat. The teams were managed by Mikey Russell, Trevor Maxwell, Conor McManus and Michael Slattery while Ultan Heffernan and Declan Murphy refereed the games.

The games started of with ground hurling only for the first half and this provided an even platform for all the boys to showcase their skills. In the second half the focus was on

- Winning balls in the ruck

- Jab lift and taking the four steps

- hitting off the side it comes to with a score for striking off the lazy side.

All in all it proved to be a super workout with our new players up from the 2019 Under 6 squad aquitting themselves very well while our older boys are starting to show the signs of all their training with strikes on the run and catches in the air.

Training continues this Wednesday night in Cappa Lodge at 5pm and we encourage all players to practice at least 15 minutes per day .. Its not just a cliche that practice makes perfect but it is a fact in regards the Bridge Bucks wher its very easy see the boys who puck around at home.

Simple things to practice ..

Throwing ball of wall and catch, Jab lift, solo in and out the drive way or around the kitchen zig zagging between obstacles, when pucking balls remember its 2 strikes off the lazy side to 1 strike on the strong side.

Special word of thanks to Michelle who looked after the contact tracing and Covid checks at training - Its very much appreciated.
