U19 Championship, County Final
Venue - Cusack Park

The U19s lost out to a very good Inagh Kilnamona side on Sunday in the U19 County Final at Cusack Park with temperatures in the mid 20s.

Inagh Kilnamona had beaten Corofin Ruan in their previous group game and were drawn out of hat as finalists. The Bridge nd Feakle Killanena played off in the semi Final where the Bridge prevailed to reach the Final. The Bridge also had wins against Ballyea and Scarriff Ogonolloe in the group stages.

The 'Bridge started well and after 6 minutes were 3 points to the good, thanks to a well taken goal by Dara Casey as he shot low to the corner beating the goalkeeper from 20 yards out. Points from Luke O' Halloran (0-4, 3f), David Kennedy (0-1) and Noel Flynn gave the Bridge 1-7 at half time but this was no match for Inagh Kilnamona who had 3-13 amassed to lead by 12 points at the interval.

The second half was a catch up exercise for the Bridge and even though they scored 3-8 to Inagh Kilnamonas 2-8, it wasnt enough to claw back the large deficit from the first half. The second half performance was much improved from the Bridge and they got the deficit back to 3 points and narrowly missed a goal chance to level it. The goals came from Luke O' Halloran (2) and David Kennedy, but this was not enough to catch Inagh Kilnamona who finished with a score of 5-21.

For Inagh Kilnamona, they had good performances from Josh Guyler, Sean Rynne, James Hegarty and Jack Mescall. Good for the Bridge on the day were Colm Flynn in midfield, brothers Matthew and Luke O' Halloran and David Kennedy.

This U19s squad played 7 competitive games over the course of the inaugural Clare U19 League and Championship and reached both finals but unfortunately lost out in both. The competition was the first championship outing for this group since 2019 due to Covid and switching of the age groups for minor from U18 to U17.

Congrats to Inagh Kilnamona on the win.
