Tim ‘Birdie’ Hayes Tournament 2016

Sarsfields of Cork Annual Under 11 Tim ‘Birdie’ Hayes Tournament takes place this Sat. 10th September in Riverstown.

Tim Hayes affectionately known as “Birdie” was a native of Sallybrook.
A timber merchant by trade he also made hurleys.
He along with his family were staunch Sarsfields supports.
‘Birdie’ also starred at left full back is Sars first County championship win in 1951.

On Saturday Sars honour his memory when whey host this Annual Under 11 tournament.
Their near neighbours Erin’s Own take the trip down the road from Caherlag while St Finbarr’s cross the city to join us in Riverstown. Meanwhile Sixmilebridge make the journey from the Banner County to complete the line up.

A great afternoons hurling is expected with first gaming throwing in at 12:30.
