*Sixmilebridge GAA Cúl Camp*

135 excited girls and boys togged out in O' Garney Park this week for the annual GAA Cúl Camp.

The camp catered for 6 to 13 year olds who travelled from near and far. As well as both Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry there were players who travelled from Cratloe, England and the U.S.A. to avail of the excellent coaching on offer.

The players took part in hurling skills and matches with a large number of fun games, rounders and fundamental movement skills. The u7 & 8 girls also showed off their dance moves at the Cúl Camp disco at lunchtime on Friday.

During the week a number of blitzes took place where the players displayed the skills they had just learnt or improved on during the week.

On Thursday the players were visited by Senior County stars Doireann Murphy and Shane Meehan who spoke to the children about their Cúl Camp experiences, the importance of diet and practising their skills followed by a q and a.

There was a special surprise on Tuesday morning when county stars Rachel Kelly, Sarah Loughnane and Finia O' Brien (also a coach at the Cúl Camp) arrived with the Munster Junior Cup.

The girls spoke to the children about their Munster and All Ireland campaigns with Clare Camogie and answered an array of questions before signing almost every primary school hurley and helmet in the parish.

Míle Buíochas to Rachel, Sarah and Finia for spending time with the children and inspiring the next generation to keep up the practice. Fingers crossed we'll see a number of them in the county geansai in the future.

There were a number of club players coaching Sinead Hogan, Niamh Lyons, Finia O' Brien, Kiah Mellet, Aoibhinn McNamara, David Kennedy & Paul Corry. Thanks also to Ryan Power and Shane Punch (Ruan), Daniel Cooney (Parteen) and Jamie Moylan (Cratloe).

Head coach Jim Corbett said "We are very lucky to have so many talented coaches for the camp. Their enthusiasm and session plans kept the players active and entertained all week. Thanks to all parents, grandparents etc. who registered and brought the children to/from the camp."

Thanks to the behind the scenes team John Corbett, John Mullins and Georgie for having the pitch stand and toilets ready for the camp.

The clash of the ash was also to be heard with the clubs hurley swap box providing useful for replacement hurleys.
