Sixmilebridge had their first match against Newmarket-on-Fergus. The girls got off to a great start with great pressure in the defensive area by Roisín Moloney and Lucy Conroy. Unfortunately, a free was given against us and following that, Newmarket scored a point. Alice Lyons had her eye on goal but later got tackled leading to a 45 scored by Lily Flannery. Aizea Keane pulled off some great saves in goals.

Aizea also made a great puck out leading to a free being taken by Lily Flannery. Following that free, Lucy Conroy nearly scored an extra 2 points. The game ended with a clearance by Rachel Chaplin. The final score was 1 point to either side.

Sixmilebridge had their second match against Kilkishen. The girls’ impeccable bravery led to a smashing side-line by Rachel Chaplin soaring over the opponents’ heads, into the hands of Lucy Conroy which was later buried into the back of the net. At half time Sixmilebridge had one goal and Kilkishen had three goals, there was a great battle from both teams in the first half. As the second half began great pressure was given by Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge got off to a great start with two great saves by Eimear White. After a few goals scored by Kilkishen Lucy Conroy made an epic solo run and scored a point. Alice Lyons was close to scoring another goal but got fouled with no free given. Lucy Conroy made up for it with a smashing goal.

The final score was 3 goals and a point to Sixmilebridge and 6 goals and a point to Kilkishen.

We would also like to congratulate our 10 mini sevens squad girls. We would like to wish Newmarket all the best in the Munster round. Best of luck to Lily Flannery in the Primary Games on Saturday.
