It is with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Mick O'Shea on Saturday. Mick was a renowned sportsman throughout his life and won 2 Senior Championships with the Bridge as well as captaining the team in 1979. He was also a member of the management team that won our All Ireland club title in 1996. As well as a sporting legend Mick will be remembered as a Gentle Giant who was the best of company when you met him and always had great stories to retell about his many sporting memories.

All in Sixmilebridge GAA would like to pass on our condolences to all the O'Shea family at this very sad time. The club will hold a Guard of Honour at his removal on Monday evening.

Father and Sons

Mick had many proud moments in his sporting life and no doubt many of these were when he lined out on the same team as his 2 sons for the 'Bridge Seniors. Here he is captaining the Bridge seniors to Clare cup glory in 1979 with Seamus and Kieran before they went on and completed the double the same year winning our second championship.

The Flying Goalie

We came across this gem of a photo of the great Mick O'Shea (compliments of Micks daughter Valerie) in action for Clare Senior Hurlers 55 years ago in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick where he lined out in goals for Clare.

The game in question played in 1964 was against Tipperary with an official attendance of 23,000 and while Clare lost on a score line of 6-13 to 2-05 the picture shows one of the many outstanding saves from Mick during the course of the game.
