Today our U11 Hurlers were on the road early to the North Cork hurling stronghold of Newtownshandrum for the annual Dermot Naughton memorial tournament.
This tournament which has been running for over 10 years now is in memory of a local hurling gael and it is is always a highlight in the Calendar of the Bridge U11 hurlers and we are very thankful again for the annual invite from our friends in Shandrum GAA.
This year saw teams from Cork, Galway and Limerick take part as well as ourselves representing the Banner County.
The tournament was based on aggregate scores with 2 even teams representing each club. We had 3 very competitive games against Michael Cusacks (Galway). Mungret St. Pauls (Limerick) and Shasndrum GAA (Cork).
Congrats to the hosts who won an excellently organized tournament and Mile Buiochas for the hospitality and Ice Cream for all the boys at the end.
We continue our training this week with U10 and U12 Go Games coming up. Th U11s will be back together on 23 September for a tournament in Blarney and again on October 21 for a tournament in Mungret.
Thanks to the coaches and parents who made the trip down to support the boys and to the U9s who provided extra numbers to help us out and really fitted in well to the high standard of hurling.
Please continue to encourage the boys to go out for a few pucks every day at home - Mol an Óige
