Those in attendance saw a great display from our intermediate team on Saturday last in Clarecastle against Tulla in the County Intermediate Semi Final. A well attended game in dry weather although soft underfoot saw the Bridge and Tulla play out a tense, close well fought game. Tulla were without injured county start David McInerney from the start but he was introduced in the second half.
Tulla opened the scoring with a point and there was only the minimum between the sides up until the goal in the 10th minute and with a couple of further points, Tulla found themselves ahead by 4 points at 1-5 to 0-4, the goal being somewhat fortuitous. There was only two points between the sides at half time with Tulla leading, 1-8 to 0-9. Luke O' Halloran contributing 3 points, Sean Lynch 2 points and single points from Colm Flynn, Evan McInerney, Alan Mulready and Christy Carey.
The second half started well for the 'Bridge with goals from Christy Carey & Cathaoir Agnew. Some fantastic scores from Sean Lynch also in this half including a superb point at the end to seal the win. Jack Corry was introduced in the second half and for the second game in a row his introduction was inspired as he scored 3 points and was fouled for another pointed free.
Good at the back were Custy, Quilligan and Breen whilst in midfield, Colm Flynn worked very hard for the whole match, Evan Mcinerney at centerback and Lynch and Mulready up front as well as Jack Corry when introduced played important roles. But overall this was a fantastic performance by our Intermediates, they had heart, determination, skill and never say die attitude to get them over the line in a cracking game.
The Bridge will now face Corrofin in the County Final. Best of luck to the team and also to Management of Pat Keane, Eamon Healy, Tommy Howard and the rest of the backroom team.
