Our Junior As championship journey ended unfortunately last Sunday in Bodyke against neighbours Broadford.

The Bridge had beaten this Broadford team by a point in an exciting last round group game in Kilkishen a few weeks ago, so another exciting encounter was expected.

The 'Bridge opened the scoring with 2 points from Daniel Chaplin and David O' Conor. Noel Flynn added another point from play and Evan Murphy added 3 points from frees before Dara Casey took a well taken goal for a green flag. At the other end the Bridge backs were under significant pressure with the Broadford forwards looking very dangerous and well able to win the high ball neing pumped in. At half time it was Broadford who were in the lead at 1-9 to 1-6.

In the second half, the Bridge could not stem the tide and Broadford maintained and added to their lead, eventually seeing out the tie winning by 5 points on a score line of 1-16 to 1-11.

Good for the Bridge on the day were Noel Flynn who worked very hard all through and Seamus O' Connell whos strong runs from the half back line generated a couple of lovely points. overall a great season for this group who have just come up from the Junior B ranks but have shown they are well capable of holding their own at Junior A level. Having come so close to reaching a final in their first year at Junior A, there will surely be a burning desire for this group to go one better in 2024. Well done to the players and management after a long season.
