U21 C Championship Round 1

Sixmilebridge 0-17
Whitegate 3-17

Venue - Whitegate
Referee - Fergal O' Brien

The clubs second U21 team lined out on Sunday last against Whitegate and in Whitegate. The Whitegate pitch was in excellent condition compliments to the ground staff there.

The team was a blend of players from 17 year olds just eligible for U21, to Clare minors and Junior B and Junior C winners. The Bridge found themselves down 8 points however at half time against Whitgates first team on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-8.

The second half saw a good effort across the half put in by the team but they couldnt bridge the gap and Whitegate ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-17 to 0-17.

Daniel Chaplin scored 9 points including a '65, 6 frees and a couple from play, Dara Casey put 3 points on the board also. Oisin Whelan for Whitegate deserves a mention also, he was outstanding over the hour and a sideline cut from the halfway line, over the bar was a fantastic bit of skill and much appreciated by those who witnessed it. For the 'Bridge, Calum Phelan, new to the U21 ranks, worked really hard over the course of the hour and also put 3 points on the board.

This team play Crusheen Tubber in their Round 2 game.
