This Friday evening is a huge occasion for the club and Community's of Sixmilebridge and Kilmurry as we officially open our new Indoor arena. The idea for this project was mooted back around 2014 following a trip to Feile na nGael where some of the club coaches saw a similar project undertaken by one of the host clubs. The ideas was discussed at length and a patch of ground was identified beside our Cappa Lodge pitch. In November 2016 planning permission was granted and the club under the leadership of Chairman Paddy Meehan undertook one of the most ambitious sports projects in county for some time. Indeed the 'Bridge would pride themselves as being visionaries in terms of development with other such project's as the Tommy Morey Memorial stand and the Floodlighting of our main pitch being a big success for the club. Following a changing of the guard Syl O'Connor took over as club chairman and continued the great work of the previous executive in ensuring the project was delivered.
The plans for the project was an indoor hurling arena covering an internal pitch of 60M X 30M - An external hurling wall and astro turf was also part of the project. This 1 Million Euro project delivery would be heavy reliant on fundraising and sponsorship and the club ran a number of big fundraisers including Strictly Come Dancing and Clares Fittest Family.
In June 2018 the sod was officially turned and machinery entered the site.

Excitement really began to build when the steel structure was put in place in December 2018 and people began to get an impression of the scale of this project.

In January 2023 our teams entered the arena for the first time with all hurling and camogie teams from U5 to Senior filling all the slots available. The launch of Spraoi Saturdays sees 300+ kids train on Saturdays while our Senior teams are regular visitors and the parish league was held indoors for the first time in 2023.
We look forward to seeing you all on Friday night at 7PM for what promises to be a great night for the whole community and beyond.
I think you will all agree that this is new facility is some return for €5 per week in our club lotto - if your not already subscribed please join our lotto here
