Our U13 Hurlers were on the road early to North Cork on Saturday morning for the Annual Mikey O'Callaghan tournament.
The tournament involved 6 clubs from Corknamelt Ballyhea (Hosts), , Bishopstown, Lisgoold, St. Finbarrs, Bride Rovers, Cloughduv along with 2 Clare teams Sixmilebridge and Clooney/Quin.
The'Bridge boys played 90 mins of hurling across 4 games with 22 players getting game time!!
Game 1: SMB v Lisgoold 0-4 v 0-1 Win
Game 2: SMB v Bishopstown 1-12 v 0-1 Win
Game 3: SMB v Ballyhea 2-0 v 1-3 Draw
We lost out on points difference with Ballyhea to reach the Cup Final by 2 pts
As a result we qualified for the shield final against the famed St. Finbarrs of Cork city.
This game ended level and we lost out in extra time on a score of 1-4 v 1-5.
The boys were exceptional today in very trying under foot conditions but played some excellent passages of hurling through all 4 games...
Congratulations to the hosts Ballyhea who went on to win the tournament beating Clooney/Quin in the final on a score of 1-05 to 0-01.
