The thrilling contests continue in the hurling championship with Atlantic Aviation getting the better of John The Baptist School with a goal from free on the last play of the match.

Atlantic made a dream start and opened up an 11 point lead after 7 minutes. Shane Lynch opened the scoring with a point for Atlantic. John The Baptist created a goal chance with their first attack but a shot from Danny O'Leary hit the post. Atlantic broke up the field and Philip Gantley fired to the back of the net to put 4 points between the sides. Points from Mark Delaney, Evan McInerney, Gantley and Sean Meaney saw the lead increased to 8 points. John The Baptist looked to be in big trouble when Ronan Molloy scored a second goal for Atlantic to leave it 2-5 to no score after 7 minutes. John The Baptist to their credit did not panic and set about reducing the deficit. A point from Adrian Cooke and a goal from Danny O'Leary had the lead down to 7 points after 9 minutes. Further points from Mark Deegan, Peter Morrissey, Brain Heavey and Michael O'Grady saw only 3 points between the sides after 18 minutes. Atlantic responded with 2 points from Billy Connors. John The Baptist hit back again with a great goal from Joe O'Connor to leave only 2 points between the sides. Points were traded with 2 more from Connors for Atlantic and another 2 from Brian Heavey for John The Baptist. A point from a free on half time from Ross Kenny saw Atlantic Aviation lead 2-11 to 2-8 at half time.

John The Baptist made a great start to the second half with a goal from Joe O'Connor to level the match. Atlantic went back in front with 2 points from Ronan Molloy. A goal from Sean Meaney saw the lead increased to 5 points. Back came John the Baptist again with a goal from Adrian Cooke to reduce the lead to 2 points after 37 minutes. Billy Connors fired over a good score for Atlantic to put them 3 in front. Another good run and point from Ronan Molloy increased the lead to 4 points. Another point from Billy Connors and it was a 5 point game. John The Baptist hit back with points from Mark Deegan and Sean McCarthy. Molloy put 4 in it again with a point on 44 minutes. A free from Brian Heavey made it a 3 point game. Molloy split the posts from a free on 47 minutes to open up a 4 point lead. Points from Adrian Cooke, Brian Heavey and Joe O'Connor had the lead down to 1 point. Connors fired over another point for Atlantic to leave 2 in it with 7 minutes left. Danny O'Leary made it a 1 point game with a good score on 54 minutes. For the second time in the match John The Baptist hit the post with a shot from Joe O'Connor on 56 minutes. Atlantic still led by a point as the game reached 59 minutes. Two brilliant scores in a row from his own half by center back Paul Browne saw John The Baptist go in front for the first time in the match after 60 minutes. Another point in injury time from Adrian Cooke saw John The Baptist lead by 2 points. One last attack for Atlantic saw them get a free just outside the 21. Up stepped Ross Kenny who fired low to the back of the John The Baptist net to win the contest on the final play of a great contest between 2 very good sides.
