Scariff/Ogonnelloe 2-7 Sixmilebridge 4-8
On Friday evening Sixmilebridge U14’s played Scariff/Ogonnelloe in the quarter final of the Clare Fèile na nGael competition in Ogonnelloe. Conditions were ideal and the pitch was in great shape, perfect for hurling.
Scarriff/Ogonnelloe opened the scoring with a lovely point and quickly followed this with a well taken goal from Patrick Crotty. After a sluggish start from the Bridge Luke O’ Halloran opened the scoring for the Bridge with two lovely points, followed by point from Seamus O’Connell. An Evan Murphy goal from an outfield free followed by a goal from Noel Flynn left the score at halftime which was only 20 minutes a half, 2-5 to 1-5 in favour of the Bridge.
The second half started like the first with a point from Patrick Crotty. The Bridge responded with a well taken goal from Seamus O’ Connell. Soon after Gearoid Sheedy pointed for the home side from a 65. After this the Bridge took control of the game with Seamus O Connell blasting a second goal and then a well taken free out on the wing from David Kennedy made it his second point of the game. Dara Casey finished the scoring for the Bridge with a point. In the dying minutes Scariff/Ogonnelloe found the back of the net after Sixmilebridge failed to clear their line. However it wasn’t enough with Sixmilebridge winning on a score line of 4-8 to 2-7.
Sixmilebridge under the Captaincy of David Kennedy now face Clooney/Quin in the Semi Final at Gurteen on Bank Holiday Monday with a 3.30pm throw in. This promises to be a nail biter with nothing separating these two teams. Please come along and support the Bridge boys.
