On Monday evening in Inagh, Sixmilebridge had a hard earned victory over Inagh Kilnamona, winning on a scoreline of 2-7 to 3-1.
Right from the throw-in, Sixmilebridge made their intent clear, with Alice Lyons scoring a point in the opening minutes. Inagh were quick to answer with a goal from play. Alice then scored another fine point from play for the ‘Bridge, narrowing the gap. After a chance at goal, Sixmilebridge’s Rachel Chaplin scored a point from a ‘45 with Inagh Kilnamona answering with a goal and a point from play. Alice Lyons scored another point from play shortly afterwards. Aizea Keane finished the scoring for Sixmilebridge just before half time with a superb goal to level the game going into the break.
The second half began with Sixmilebridge on the attack again. A number of attempts on goal resulted in two more points from ‘45s taken by Rachel Chaplin whose accuracy on the day ensured that both went sailing over the bar. The Sixmilebridge defence were under attack but excellent clearances ensured that the ball returned to their forwards and into the hands of Alice Lyons who rattled the net again in the 22nd minute. In the final minutes of the game, Inagh Kilnamona fought on though and broke through the strong defence to finish with a goal, narrowing the gap to just a single score.
