U13 A Hurling Semi Final
Newmarket 0-12 SMB 1-08
Newmarket was the venue on Monday evening for the U13A Championship Semi final between the Bridge and Newmarket. Having met in the earlier round when only 2 points separated the teams the large crowd in attendance came expecting a close match and were not disappointed with only the minimum between the teams at the final whistle.
The 'Bridge got off to the better start with early points before Caelan Hayes found Jack Reddan with a pin point pass who duly found the net for what was to be the only goal of the game. Newmarket rallied late in the half to reduce the half time margin to 2 points (SMB 1-05 NOF 0-06).
The second half saw Newmarket play with the elements and they drew level 10 minutes into the half before a tit for tat battle saw them edge ahead - Try as they may the Bridge could not get they goal they pursued following some fine saves from the Newmarket Net Minder. In the end the Blues ran out winners by a point on a score of 0-12 to 1-08 and now go on to face Ballyea in the County Final
Hard luck to our boys who put in a massive effort this year but the future is very bright for this group - Best of luck to the majority of these boys who are in the Schools Semi Final this Thursday and to some of the panel who are part of the Academy team in the Final this Friday evening.
