St Aidans NS 7-05 St Senans 4-08
The Cumann na mBunscol finals got off to a thrilling start this morning in Cusack Park and while it was a battle of the Shannon Schools the Bridge U12 hurlers were well represented with a player on each team:
JJ Quigley lined out in defence for Aidans while Alex Russell was in the Senans attack.
After a rapid start the scores were level at half time: Aidans 3-02 to Senans 2-05.
As the old saying goes goals win games and Aidans finished the game strongest to run out 6 point winners under the watchful eye of their coach John Conlon.
Hard luck to Alex who despite losing gave a heroic performance shooting 3-06 of his teams tally (3-03 play and 3 frees). Congratulations to JJ who gave a super performance in defence for the winners to ensure the cup was going back to Aidans and to Cameron Moloney from our U11s who is also part of the winners panel.
Despite the school rivalry it was great to see the boys catchup after the game and we look forward to seeing them in action together this weekend in Kilkenny for the Ballyragget U12 tournament.
