Its been a busy time for our U14 Hurlers with a combined number of 53 players lining out across 3 teams in the U14 grade - a first for the club.
All 3 teams have put in wonderful performances in recent weeks to qualify for the County final in each of their divisions.
U14 A Team
After opening their campaign with a win away ton Clonlara the Bridge boys were beaten at home to Doora Barefield in Round 2 so qualified in 2nd place in their group.
This setup a Semi Final away to Clooney/Quin in a repeat of the 2023 U13A Final. The home side thundered into a 2-08 to 0-06 point lead in the first half and the Bridge looked to be in trouble. But the boys rallied at half time and started to chip away at the scoreboard and drew level late on before finishing strong with 2 late points to seal the win. In the other semi final Corofin/Ruan beat Doora BAreifled in extra time.
Final: Sixmilebridge V Corofin/Ruan
Venue: Clooney @ 7pm
U14 Academy A Team
Our Academy A team topped their group following wins over Doora Barefield and Kilmaley to setup a semi final with Newmarket last evening.
The 'Bridge boys started off strong and lead the game from start to finish with the final score recorded as 3-07 to 1-05.
The Bridge now go on to face either Doora Barefield or Ballyea (who play tonight) in the final.
U14 Academy B Team
These boys got off to a flyng start with a win at home against Newmarket but then lost out to a very strong Eire Og side away and Corofin/Ruan at home. Based on a draw they got a bye in the semi final and will now face Newmarket or Clonlara in the final next week.
