U10 Camogie Update

The U10 camogie group continue to train throughout the summer period with a mix of blitzes & camps in their schedule.

Over the past few weeks, a lot of the girls have experienced Morey Camp & there was a very positive number of the girls who attended the SMB Cul Camp.

The girls are getting loads of camogie which is fantastic.

Over the past few number of weeks, the U10 girls have taken part in three different blitzes.

July 23rd Blitz V Doora Barefield & Cratloe

This blitz took place in SMB on the Tuesday after the Clare hurling all Ireland success. This saw us play a strong Doora side & Cratloe as the opposition. A few of the girls (& coaches) were feeling tired after the previous weekends exploits but this was a great outing as everyone was in great spirits & the girls put on a positive display for the hour. Credit to all for turning up in large numbers after the previous weekend.

July 26th – 4th Go Games Blitz v Kilkishen, Ruan & Tubber

This Friday evening outing saw us hosting the fourth round of the “Go Games” scheduled blitzes. We hosted Kilkishen, Ruan & Tubber for this event.

SMB & Tubber fielded 3 teams each with Ruan & Kilkishen 2 teams each. Each team played 4 games on the evening. All teams can be very proud of what they displayed.

August 17th – Blitz v Bruff & Newtownshandrum

Last Saturday, we were invited into Bruff in county Limerick to take part in a county blitz. This saw us representing Clare with Bruff from Limerick & Newtownshandrum of Cork making up the 3 teams.

We had 19 girls make the journey into limerick. Credit here to the girls & their parents as it being  the month of august & the 90-minute round trip on a Saturday morning, this was a great number to have attending.

Following arrival, we had a large group photo, a few kind & encouraging words from the Bruff coaches & some Limerick U16 all Ireland winners who spoke to the girls too.

After this the girls made their way to the field where they took part in a round the pitch parade & the national anthem all led by a man on the bag pipes.

For the day’s action, we formed 2 teams led by 3 coaches on each team. We played 3 excellent games v both clubs in what was a high standard blitz for the age group involved.

The girls embraced the tag of “Clare” & right from the start they were giving their all.

There was super team performances put in on all 3 games & the opposition were complementary of all our girls afterwards.

Following the 3 matches, we were invited into the hall where there was a sea of sandwiches, tea/coffee & treats for everyone.

Massive thanks & credit to Bruff for a super morning’s action.

Special mention to an ex-member of many successful SMB teams in Anthony Liddane who reached out to us with the invite. He was directly involved sat in coaching & refereeing (not as good as his brother) as well as having a daughter in action too. We were thrilled we accepted the invite & are eager to have Bruff visit us soon.

See picture below of Zoe, Sheena and Katie, their fathers; David O’Connor, Anthony Liddane and Tommy Morey hurled together and now their daughters play against each other.

Training continues for all the girls with more blitzes coming up over the coming weeks before the winter period.
