At the County Board meeting last night, Danny Chaplin presented Pat Gavin and Declan Moroney of Bord na nÓg Iomáint with the newly refurbished Willie Chaplin Minor A Hurling Cup.

Willie Chaplin, a Sixmilebridge man from Cappa, was a great club volunteer especially with underage teams. He unfortunately passed away in 1987 in his early forties but left a great legacy and the Clare Minor Championship Cup was named in his honour .His sons and daughters all represented the Bridge in camogie and hurling and indeed with Clare also at all grades and have given many years service to Sixmilebridge Gaa hurling and camogie clubs.  Danny and Caroline Chaplin now reside in Broadford and are heavily involved in the hurling and camogie clubs there. In 2015, Willies grandson Darren Chaplin managed to be on the winning side with Broadford Smith O' Briens as they won the Minor championship. The Bridge last won the Minor A championship in 2011.

Clare Gaa have expressed many thanks to the Chaplin family for the presentation which will keep the memory of Willie alive in Clare hurling .
