2024 Sixmilebridge Gaa AGM

There was a good turnout for the Sixmilebridge Gaa Club AGM in the Hall at O' Garney Park, on Sunday evening last, the 24th of November 2024.

As a mark of respect, a minutes silence was observed for decesased members and for those associated with the club.

Chairman Syl O' Connor gave his Chairmans report where he recounted some great achievements throughout the year, most notably reaching the County Senior Final but also the fielding of a historic 5 adult teams. He acknowledged the huge work being done in lots of different areas of the club, across Coaching Teams, Field Teams, Development and from within the Executive and the Minor Club.

Secretary Adrian Hogan who had already issued his Secretarys report to members in the weeks prior gave a very comprehensive report outlining some of the significant happenings over the year including the Parish League won again by the Mountain, an outline of the Adult teams progress, the highlight being the Senior Team reaching the County Final, Clares great run to the All Ireland Final and Tickets Distribution, the success and endurance of the Togging Out Group, Facilities Upgrade including Fob entry and comprehensive CCTV System, Scoreboard and Sliotars and other Grants & Projects that are ongoing..

On membership, the report outlined that the hurling club increased its membership to a very health 550 members. 112 playing adult members, an increase also on previous years, 197 non playing members and 241 underage player.

Treasurer John Gaule presented his report which showed the club finances in a slight deficit when the accounts were formulated for the Agm, but overall taking loans and capital projects and Lotto fundraising into account the club is in a healthy position.

The various Team managers gave reports on their teams efforts on the field of play, the Seniors reaching the county final was the highlight, the intermediates and Junior Bs reaching quarter finals and the Junior As relegated unfortunately and the 5th team the Junior Cs fielding for the first having a tough campaign.

Stepping down from Vice Chairman for 2024 was John Macnamara who has given excellent service over the last number of years having previously also been secretary. John will be remaining in the club committee. Also finishing his term was President Pat Chaplin who continues to serve the club in an almost daily basis from a maintenance perspective.

The following were elected on the night and we welcome new additions on to the committee in Kevin Phelan as Vice Chairman and Christy Murray as President.
