Smb 2-13 Banner 0-10

By Ian Chaplin - Corner Back/PRO/Engineer

The junior C's recorded their first league win of the year against the Banner of Ennis on Saturday evening. The match pitted the Banners first team against the 'Bridges fourth team. The 'Bridge were rewarded for a solid performance and Jude Kearneys men will be satisfied with getting the win after two narrow defeats to Ogonolloe and Clonbony.

The 'Bridge lost wing forward Tony McNamara in the first half due to injury. He was replaced by Paul Finin who caused an awful lot of trouble for the Banner full back line. The half time score was 0-07 each. A long distance free from Mark McInerney the pick of the scores in the first half.

The second half saw the 'Bridge start to take control and goals from Paul Finin and Noel Flannery put a bit of distance between the teams. Martin Conlon was solid in his free taking and Noel Flannery was able to maximise on the good ball delivered to the full forward line.

Defensively the 'Bridge did well to limit the Banner to 10 points with quite a few of those scores coming from frees. Good performances were seen from captain Billy Maxwell at corner back, Paul Finin in the forwards and Noel Flannery at full forward on the night.

Next up is a local derby against Wolfe tones in a home fixture next weekend.
