Following the recent success of Scór Sinsir an Chláir, (29 clubs participated), thoughts now turn to Scór na bPáistí (Primary Schools).

Last year, due to demand, an East/Mid Clare competition was hosted at Cois na hAbhna, Inis and a West/North Clare comórtas at the Teach Cheoil in Kilrush. We are expecting to do something similar this time 'round with likely dates in late April/ early May.

Scór na bPáistí offers competitions in 9 categories:

1. Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing)
2. Ceol Uirlise (Trad. Group)
3. Ceol Aonair (Solo Music)
4. Aithriseoireacht (Recitation)
5. Rince Seit (Set Dancing)
6. Rince Foirne (Irish Dancing)
7. Rince Sean-Nós
8. Nuachleas (Novelty Act)
9. Bailéad Ghrúpa (Ballad Group)

Sixmilebridge has a proud tradition in Scor and it is hoped that previous interest and recent interest can be maintained and increased with increased participation which will ultimately help to maintain our culture and traditions.

Last year Sixmilebridge won the Ceoil Uirlise (Instrumental Music) Section. They were coached by Orla Liddane and the talented group of camogie players represented their club and village with distinction.

If your child is a member of the Camogie or Minor club and would like to participate in any of the above competitions, please email their names to me asap at : pmacgiolla@yahoo.ie

Cosing date for entry is April 18th.

Le buíochas,
P. Mac Giolla Phádraig (Oifigeach Gaeilge)
