Our U6 Bridge Bucks season came to a close tonight with a Blitz against Newmarket, Clonlara and O'Callaghans Mills. 2 Members of the Limerick Pipe band lead the 4 clubs onto the pitch before playing Amhrán na bFhiann.
Each team played 4 games lasting 12 minutes each under floodlights and the skills on show by all clubs will give heart to all Clare supporters looking to the future. All games were played in a very sporting manner with high 5's and handshakes all round after each game.
It was a big lift to our boys to see Paidi Fitzpatrick present with the Canon Hamilton along with Cathal Malone, Shane Golden, Alan Mulready, Noel Purcell and Jamie Shanahan. A number of the lads were in the schools earlier in the day so fair play for coming back tonight.
Following the blitz our guest clubs enjoyed refreshments provided by all the U6 parents and a big thank you to all who brought goodies.
Head coach Martin Conlon organised a presentation to all players of a hurley grip, cert, healthy eating plan and medal presented by the senior players present. Some of the boys are graduating up to U8 Bucks while others have another year or 2 in some cases left at U6. Either way there was a huge improvement in all players since we began back on May 12th.
A few Thank yous -
- To Sixmilebridge GAA club for always having a field available for any Blitz or training throughout the year. Training was only ever cancelled once due to weather which is a testament to John Corbett and his ground stadd.
- Thanks to John Reddin of InTouch Control Systems who provided sponsorship towards the gear for the U6 Bucks
- Thanks to Edel for sending out the text messages to parents.
- Thanks to all the parents who provided transport to training, Blitz, catering etc. throughout the year.
Finally a massive Thank you to MARTIN CONLON who has ensured a great foundation and love for the game for all our U6 hurlers. His positive energy at training made it most enjoyable for fellow coaches and players alike.
